Unlike Temporary Disability benefits, Permanent Disability benefits are not based on wage loss. Instead, it is more indicative of the impairment of future earning capacity given the employee’s age, occupation, and specific type of injury.

Generally, when an employee is no longer temporary disabled and has plateaued in terms of medical improvement, a need for Permanent Disability arises. Unlike Temporary Disability benefits, Permanent Disability benefits are not based on wage loss. Permanent Disability is rated on a percentage scale of 1 to 100, with corresponding monetary figures for each percentage of Permanent Disability.
